PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

The women of the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac meet for lunch on a monthly basis for prayer, local mission work, informative programs, and fellowship.  Bev Brighton, the group’s moderator, says, “All women are invited to attend.”  

The women meet every month, except for January and February, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Most meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. and coffee and dessert is served by group members.  The meetings usually include a guest speaker to present a program on ways to help the needy and less fortunate in our local area. 

There are four potlucks a year, held in March, June, September and December when the meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.  When there is a potluck meeting, in addition to a dish to pass, each woman also brings a personal needs item for OASIS.  OASIS is a local charity that supplies these items for the homeless and those in need.  

As another ongoing local outreach activity, the Presbyterian Women’s Group donates funds to the Kings Storehouse Food Pantry.  The group used to donate non-perishable food items brought to meetings.  However, we learned that this charity can purchase more food less expensively if given money than donors can.  In this way the group supports feeding the hungry in our community.

Presbyterian Women’s Group pledges are also donated to local charitable organizations, especially those associated with the programs and speakers who educate the group about their missions during the year. 

In addition to outreach activities, the group works together to provide funeral luncheons.  A schedule of women who bring various dishes or shop for food for these funeral luncheons is rotated through the year.   If you are interested in joining the group or in helping with funeral luncheons, please come to a meeting or contact Bev Brighton or Dorice, our church secretary.
