Scripture Readings for June 17
Psalm 22; Matthew 27: 45 – 54;
Isaiah 43: 1 – 2
The cover on the bulletin for this coming Sunday has a beautiful verse that is fitting for my final Sunday preaching here at Cadillac. It is Jeremiah 29:11, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”
My sermon title is “Finding our Hope in God”. In Isaiah 43 it tells us we will not be overwhelmed or consumed by the waters and fires of life. God will be with us. Last week I mentioned the saying, “There is one constant in life, and that is change.” Actually, another constant is God. God is, and always will be, with us. Therefore we can have hope.
Psalm 22, and Jesus quoting Psalm 22 on the cross, cries out, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” Yet the psalmist, and Jesus, was speaking to the one who delivers.
As we move in to a time of change and transition let us find our hope not in our circumstances, but in God.
