WE PRAISE THE LORD OUR CREATOR

INTROIT AND BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

Let this be a time of preparing our hearts for worship

“Prepare The Way Of The Lord”

CALL TO WORSHIP                                           Scheanwald Family

One:   In this season of Advent we have lit the candles of hope and peace.  Today we light the candle of joy.  When two people are joined in marriage they make a promise of love and   faithfulness.  Just like a marriage, God makes a promise too.  God’s promise is that we belong to God and we experience joy in this union.

All:     Like an earthly wedding, we experience joy in this commitment.

One:   Scripture says, “there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and gladness, saying, “Give thanks to God, for God is good; God’s love endures forever.”

All:     O God, we will give You thanks forever.

One:   May the God of hope fill you with all joy as you trust in God, so  that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  We wait with joy.

All:     Come, Lord Jesus.  Amen

WE CONFESS OUR NEED

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of mercy, light and love, we confess that we have not been people who are quick to pray. When an emergency befalls us, we turn to pleas and prayers which usually begin with the heart-wrenching cry, "Why?". Help us to remember that you are always ready to hear and respond to all our prayers. Remind us that even though we have often failed to witness to your love and live as people of compassion and faith, you love us unconditionally. Forgive our stubbornness and willfulness. Cleanse our souls and spirits and make us truly ready to receive your light. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

SILENT PERSONAL CONFESSION

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One:  Let us be assured of Christ’s pardon of our sins as we say together:

All:  Come, Lord Jesus; forgive us and restore us.
Come, Lord Jesus; guide us and deliver us.
Come, Lord Jesus; teach us and renew us.
Come, Lord Jesus.  Amen

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

*SUNG RESPONSE         “Gloria Patri”             (Avery & Marsh)

Glory be to the Father, and the son, and the Holy ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
